Naja, es klappte eigentlich nie so recht mit der Anerkennung, obwohl sie wirklich einen sehr eigenständigen Sound entwickelt hatten. Schade. Die Band wurde 1965 in Belmont, Kalifornien von David Cortopassi (Vocals, Guitar, Vibraphone), Scott Williams (Guitar, Bass, Vocals), Russell Kerger (Keyboards, Vocals), Rusty Kierig (Bass, Vocals) und Vince Silvera (Drums, Vocals) gegründet. Die erste Single "Lose Yourself / Turn Your Head" erschien 1966 bei Century Records noch unter dem Namen This Side Up, erst dann nannten sich die 5 Musiker in The Elastik Band um. Im Jahr 1967 erschien dann bei ATCO Records die Single "Spazz / Paper Mache", yeah, und "Spazz" wurde zumindest im nahegelegenen San Francisco ein lokaler Hit. Die Band wechselte 1968 zu Kapp Records, wo die Singles "I Would Still Love You / In A Family Tree" und "Tunesmith" 1968 erschienen. Auf der B-Side von "Tunesmith" ist ebenfalls der Song „Tunesmith“ zu hören, aber in der Version der Band The Bards. Im Jahr 2007 erschien dann beim Label Digital Cellars das Compilation-Album "The Elastik Band", da ist alles drauf, was die Band von 1966 bis 1970 aufgenommen hat. Die Musiker versuchten Anfang der 70er Jahre einen Neuanfang unter dem Namen Dangerfield, aber auch davon blieb nur die Single "Zig Zag Man / Rockpile" bei Kapp Records übrig. AHHH HAA HAAA! Echt schade. Der Sänger und Gitarrist David Cortopassi, der den Song "Spazz" auch geschrieben hat, veröffentlichte überraschenderweise 2000 beim Label Digital Cellars das Album "The Silicon Jungle". Naja, an "Spazz"-Zeiten kommt es nicht wirklich ran. Es gab in den 60er Jahren auch eine britische Band mit dem Namen The Elastic Band, yeah, Elastic mit C und nicht mit K am Schluss, die bei Decca Records 1968 die 2 Singles "Do Unto Others / 8 And A Half Hours Of Paradise" und "Think Of You Baby / It’s Been A Long Time Baby" sowie 1969 das Album "Expansions Of Life" veröffentlichte. The Elastic Band waren Andy Scott (Guitar), der in den 70er Jahren dann mit The Sweet grosse Popkarriere machte, Ted Yeadon alias Gus Eadon (Vocals, Piano), Mike Scott (Bass), Andys Bruder, yeah, und Sean Jenkins (Drums). Hm, die Elastik Band mit K am Schluss ist aber eindeutig die bessere, also, hören hören hören.
