Der Song "Sono L’Antichristo" stammt vom Livealbum "Plague Mess", das 1991 bei Mute Records erschienen ist. Das Album wurde 1990 bei einem Konzert in der Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York mitgeschnitten und die Musiker*innen waren Diamanda Galás (Vocals, Grand Piano), Michael McGrath (Tapes, Electronics), Ramon Diaz (Electronic Percussion) und David Linton (Drums, Percussion). Diamanda Galás wurde 1955 in San Diego, Kalifornien und ihr erster Auftritt als Sängerin fand 1973 beim Festival d’Avignon in Frankreich statt, wo sie die Hauptrolle in der Oper "Un Jour comme un autre" von Vinko Globokar sang. Im Jahr 1979 war sie auf dem Album "If Looks Could Kill" von Jim French zu hören, das bei Headhunter Records erschien und in der Besetzung Jim French (Saxophone, Pan Flute, Pibcorn, Electronics), Diamanda Galás (Vocals) und Henry Kaiser (Guitar) aufgenommen wurde. Zumindest die 6 Songs auf der B-Side, die A-Side wurde von Jim French im Alleingang eingespielt. Das erste Soloalbum von Diamanda Galás war "The Litanies Of Satan", das 1982 bei Y Records erschien. Der Song "The Litanies Of Satan" verwendet Lyrics von Charles Baudelaire, und zwar aus seinem Poem "Les Fleurs du Mal", das 1857 zum ersten Mal publiziert wurde. Diamanda Galás ist seit 1988 Mitglied der Aktivist*innen-Gruppe ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) und wurde 1989 bei einer Protestaktion gegen Kardinal John O’Conner, der gegen Schwule und Kondome predigte, verhaftet. Sie ist auch im Dokumentarfilm "Positive" 1990 von Rosa von Praunheim alias Holger Bernhard Bruno Waldemar Mischwitzky zu sehen und zu hören. Beim Albun "Saint Of The Pit" 1986 arbeitete sie mit F.M. Einheit alias Frank-Martin Strauß zusammen, der damals noch bei der Band Einstürzende Neubauten spielte. Im Jahr 1991 erschien bei Mute Records das Album "The Singer" auf dem sie Songs von Willie Dixon, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, Roy Acuff etcetera interpretiert. Great! Auf dem Album "The Sporting Life" 1994 arbeitet sie mit John Paul Jones, dem ehemaligen Bassisten von Led Zeppelin zusammen. Ganz toll ist auch das 2003 bei Mute Records erschienene Livealbum "La serpenta canta" mit einer umwerfenden Version des Hank-Williams-Songs "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry". Yeah! Zuletzt erschien von Diamanda Galas 2020 beim Label Intravenal Sound Operations die EP "De-Formation - Piano Variations“. Der Song "Sono L’Antichristo" ist auch auf der 1988 bei Mute Records erschienenen Compilation "Masque Of The Red Death" zu finden. Diamanda Galás: It seems stupid when people limit themselves to one kind of music. It tells me they're not using their ears. Naja, als Popfan hört man eigentlich nie nur eine Sorte von Musik, da hat von John Cage über die Small Faces bis Merzbow vieles Platz. Yeah! Diamanda Galás ist tolle Popmusik. PJ Harvey: You can sing a very aggressive word in such a way that it's very funny. You can change words, completely turn them around on their head so that they mean exactly the opposite of what they are written down. There are endless possibilities which I think Diamanda Galás is doing already. She turns everything upside down by the way she sings it.
