"Bad Moon Rising" wurde von John Fogerty geschrieben und seine Band Clearwater Creedence Revival hatte 1969 einen großen Hit damit. Die Version von Rasputina ist auf der 2003 bei Instinct Records erschienenen EP "The Lost And Found 2nd Ed." zu finden. Die Band Rasputina wurde Anfang der 90er Jahre von Melora Creager in New York gegründet. Im Jahr 1996 unterschrieb die Band bei Columbia Records und das Debütalbum "Thanks For The Ether" erschien, mit dabei waren nun Melora Creager (Vocals, Cello), Julia Kent (Cello), Carpella Parvo (Cello) und Norm Block (Drums). Doch die Besetzung der Band war von ständigen Wechseln geprägt, bereits beim zweiten Album "How We Quit The Forest" 1998 waren Carpella Parvo und Norm Block nicht mehr dabei, ihre Stellen hatten nun Agnieszka Rybska (Cello) und Chris Vrenna (Drums) eingenommen. Nach diesem Album verließ die Band Columbia Records oder Columbia Records die Band, was eventuell naheliegender ist, und die nächsten beiden Alben "Cabin Fever!" 2002 und "Frustration Plantation" 2004 erschienen bei Instinct Records. Von 2005 bis 2010 erschienen 5 Alben bei Filthy Bonnet Records und seither gibt Melora Creager die Rasputina-Alben selbst heraus. Zuletzt erschien 2019 das Album "Skin Is Living Leather", auf dem Melora Creager von Polly Panic alias Jenette Mackie (Cello) und Luis Mojica (Piano, Beat Boxes, Vocals) musikalisch unterstützt wird. Die EP "The Lost And Found 2nd Ed." besteht hauptsächlich aus Coverversionen, neben "Bad Moon Rising" werden noch Songs wie "Wish You Were Here" von Pink Floyd, "Tourniquet" von Marilyn Manson, "Fire And Ice" von Pat Benatar, "All Tomorrow's Parties" von The Velvet Underground und "Rock and Roll" von Led Zeppelin gecovert. Gothic Pop, yeah. Auch auf fast allen anderen Alben von Rasputina finden sich Coverversionen, u.a. "Brand New Key" von Melanie, "Barracuda" von Heart, "Redondo Beach" von der Patti Smith Group, "That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore" von The Smith oder den "September Song" von Kurt Weil. Die EP heißt "The Lost And Found 2nd Ed.", da sie bereits 2001 als "Lost And Found" bei RPM Records veröffentlicht wurde. Bei der so genannten 2nd Edition sind 2 Songs mehr drauf, "Bad Moon Rising" und "Fire And Ice". Melora Creager: Music is relatable to food, in my opinion... I like to make rather dense, sweet dishes. I love sweet and salty in the same dish. The cello is quite caramely. I play it like meat. And then there are sauces... Like Emily Dickinson said, 'Everyone needs puddings'. Ich esse lieber Marmorgugelhupf als Pudding, yeah, die Musik von Rasputina ist aber auch durchaus immer wieder mal Marmorgugelhupf mit viel Staubzucker drauf. I love it!
