Scott Walker: "Track 6 (Say It)" (1984)

Say it got late / On that one. / That life-giver one. / Hanging weightless from the wound / In a half-light. / Taken up I could hold him / When all falls away. / Prayed into each other / You stood in the air / And the ceiling are rising / And falling. / The ceiling are shining / And slow / Peeling tongues from the ice hums / And letting it go. Yeah, ich liebe dieses Album. Weitere Art-Pop-Perlen von Scott Walker sind die Alben "Tilt" 1995, "The Drift" 2006, "Bish Bosch" 2012 und "Soused" 2014, eine Collaboration mit der Band Sunn O))). "Climate Of Hunter" is probably the worst-selling record Scott Walker ever made. It didn't stay in Virgin's full priced range for long and even at mid-price was deleted by the turn of the nineties, hardly helped by the universal tide of lousy reviews it garnered on first release. In a sense, I can understand that - after over a decade of waiting, something as unusual and unexpected as this hardly immediate collection of largely untitled and unconventional songs was well hard to take. But an album as adventurous and brave as "Climate Of Hunter" can't be cast aside forever. Over the years I've played it rarely, then occasionally, then regularly, to the point where I simply could not be without a copy. Pick up a second hand copy somewhere - probably very cheaply - and bear with it. I think you're going to like it, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon, and for the rest of your life, schreibt Fitter Stoke auf der Website www.headheritage.co.uk, die von Julian Cope betrieben wird. Scott Walker hatte in seiner Solokarriere nur 3 Hits, "Jackie" 1967, "Joanna" 1968 und "Lights Of Cincinnati" 1969. Mit der Band The Walker Brothers hatte er um einiges mehr Erfolg, die größten Hits der Walker Brothers in den 60er Jahren waren "Make It Easy On Yourself", "My Ship Is Coming In", "The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore", "(Baby) You Don’t Have To Tell Me", "Another Tear Falls", "Stay With Me Baby" und "Walking In The Rain". Scott Walker: Oh, it was amazing at first, but a little goes a long way. I was not cut out for that world. I love pop music, but I didn't have the temperament for fame. Über die Popmusik, die er jetzt macht, sagte Scott Walker: I write a different kind of song these days. There's not a lot of harmony and there aren't the thick textures I used to use. It's generally just big blocks of sound, raw and stark. A big emotional noise. Essentially, I am attempting the impossible over and over, trying to find a way to say the unsayable. Beim Song "Track 6 (Say It)" wird Scott Walker von den Musikern Mo Foster (Bass), Peter Van Hooke (Drums) und Evan Parker (Saxophone) unterstützt. And the ceiling are rising / And falling. / The ceiling are shining / And slow / Peeling tongues from the ice hums / And letting it go. Ich habe in meiner Sammlung außer den bereits genannten Alben noch das 1969 bei Philips Records erschienene Album "Scott 4" und die 2006 beim Label Universal Music erschienene Compilation "The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore - The Best Of Scott Walker & The Walker Brothers", da sind 14 Songs von den Walker Brothers und 7 Songs von Scott Walker darauf enthalten. Scott Walker starb 2019 im Alter von 76 Jahren.
