Der Song "Time" ist auf dem 1973 bei RCA Records erschienenen Album "Aladdin Sane" zu finden. Glam Rock, yeah. "Time" erschien 1973 auch als Single, mit dem Song "The Prettiest Star" auf der B-Side. Die an der Aufnahme beteiligten Musiker waren David Bowie (Vocals, Guitar), Mick Ronson (Guitar, Backing Vocals), Trevor Bolder (Bass) und Mick Woodmansey (Drums), also die so genannten Spiders From Mars sowie der Gastmusiker Mike Garson am Piano. Mike Garson: I had told Bowie about the avantgarde thing. When I was recording the "Aladdin Sane" track for Bowie, it was just two chords, an A and a G chord, and the band was playing very simple English rock and roll. And Bowie said: 'Play a solo on this.' I had just met him, so I played a blues solo, but then he said: 'No, that's not what I want.' And then I played a latin solo. Again, Bowie said: 'No no, that's not what I want.' He then continued: 'You told me you play that avantgarde music. Play that stuff!' And I said: 'Are you sure? 'Cause you might not be working anymore!' So I did the solo that everybody knows today, in one take. And to this day, I still receive emails about it. Every day. I always tell people that Bowie is the best producer I ever met, because he lets me do my thing. Mike Garson war auf vielen Alben von David Bowie mit dabei, "Aladdin Sane" war das erste und "Reality" 2003 das letzte. Mike Garson war auch bei den beiden Soloalben des Spiders From Mars-Gitarristen Mick Ronson mit dabei, "Slaughter On 10th Avenue" 1974 und "Play Don’t Worry" 1975. Mick Ronson starb 1993 im Alter von 46 Jahren an Krebs. Knapp nach seinem Tod erschien sein drittes Soloalbum "Heaven And Hull" bei Epic Records. Mick Ronsons Gitarre ist auch auf Alben wie "Walk On The Wild Side" 1972 von Lou Reed, "All The Young Dudes" 1972 von Mott The Hoople oder "We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful" 1992 von Morrissey zu hören. Es ist toll, wenn David Bowie la, la, la singt, immer wieder la, la, la, schöner kann time gar nicht vergehen. Ich war als 17-jähriger ganz vernarrt in das Cover von "Aladdin Sane", David Bowie nackt mit silbernen Körper und wegretuschierten Geschlecht, yeah, sozusagen geschlechtslos. Wer David Bowie nackt mit Geschlecht bewundern will, kann das im Film "The Man Who Fell To Earth" 1976 von Nicolas Roeg. In den 80er Jahren nahm David Bowie auch 4 Singles im Duett auf, alle 4 sind zwar irgendwie missglückt, aber was solls, die erste war "Under Pressure / Soul Brother" 1981 mit Freddie Mercury als Gesangspartner und Queen als Backing Band, 1982 erschien dann "Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy" im Duett mit Bing Crosby, 1984 "Tonight / Tumble And Twirl" mit Tina Turner und 1985 "Dancing In The Street / Dancing In The Street (Instrumental)" mit Mick Jagger. Das Duett mit Freddie Mercury ist ganz nett, das Duett mit Bing Crosby irgendwie witzig, na ja, und die anderen beiden sind echt entbehrlich. Kommerziell am erfolgreichsten war das Duett mit Mick Jagger, huch. Bevor aus David Jones 1966 David Bowie wurde, hatte er bereits einige Singles veröffentlicht, "Liza Jane / Louie, Louie Go Home" 1964 als Davie Jones & The King Bees, "I Pity The Fool / Take My Tip" 1965 als The Manish Boys und "You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving / Baby Loves That Way" 1965 als Davy Jones & The Lower Third. Mit der Band The Lower Third erschien 1966 noch die Single "Can’t Help Thinking About Me / And I Say To Myself", da nannte er sich aber bereits David Bowie. Das Gitarrensolo beim Song "I Pity The Fool" spielt der junge Jimmy Page, der damals sein Geld als Studiomusiker verdiente. Das Album "Aladdine Sane" wird alle paar Jahre als CD oder LP wiederveröffentlicht und ist insgesamt toll.
