Peter Townshend: The songs were written with me stoned out of my brain in my living room, crying my eyes out... detached from my own work and from the whole project... I felt empty. Recording the album seemed to take me nowhere. Roger Daltrey was angry with the world at the time. Keith Moon seemed as impetuous as ever, on the wagon one minute, off the next. John Entwistle starb 2002 im Alter von 57 Jahren. Keith Moon veröffentlichte 1975 bei MCA Records das Soloalbum "Two Sides Of The Moon", er starb 1978 im Alter von 32 Jahren. Bevor Keith Moon bei The Who einstieg, trommelte er bereits in den Bands The Escorts und The Beachcombers. Vor Keith Moon trommelte kurz Doug Sandom bei The Who. Doug Sandom: I wasn't so ambitious as the rest of them. I'd done it longer than what they had. Of course, I loved it. It was very nice to be part of a band that people followed, it was great. But I didn't get on well with Peter Townshend. I was a few years older than he was, and he thought I should pack it in more or less because of that. I thought I was doing all right with the band, we never got slung out of nowhere, we always passed our auditions. Für Keith Moon kam dann Kenney Jones von den Small Faces bzw.
