Gothic Punk, yeah. Alien Sex Fiend wurde 1982 von Nik Fiend alias Nicholas Wade (Vocals), Mrs. Fiend alias Christine Wade (Synthesizer), Yaxi Highrizer alias David James (Guitar) und Johnnie Ha-Ha alias Johnnie Freshwater (Drums) in London, England gegründet. Die ersten Veröffentlichungen der Band waren die Kassette "The Lewd, The Mad, The Ugly And Old Nick" bei F.O. Records und der Song "R.I.P." auf der Badcave-Club-Compilation "The Batcave - Young Limbs and Numb Hymns" 1983 bei London Records. Danach unterschrieb die Band bei Anagram Records, wo 1983 die Singles "Lips Can’t Go / Drive My Rocket (Up Uranus)" und "Ignore The Machine / The Gurl At The End Of My Gun" sowie das offizielle Debütalbum "Who’s Been Sleeping In My Brain" erschienen. "Ignore The Machine" schaffte es auf Platz 6 der UK Indie-Charts. Die Musikpresse prägte für den Sound von Alien Sex Fiend den Begriff Death Rock. Klingt eigentlich auch recht nett. Im Jahr 1984 erschienen die Singles "Dead And Buried / Attack!!!", "E.S.T. (Trip To The Moon) / Boneshaker Baby" und "R.I.P. (Blue Crumb Truck) / New Christian Music" sowie das zweite Album "Acid Bath". D-D-D-Dead and buried / D-D-D-Dead and buried / Dead / Asthma attack in a purple haze / Your cards are numbered and so are my days / The living ain't easy, the living ain't clean / Makes me hot, makes me naked / Makes me feel just plain obscene / Know what I mean? Außerdem durfte die Band 1984 gleich 2 BBC-Peel-Sessions aufnehmen. Nach dem Album "Maximum Security" 1985 verließ Johnnie Ha-Ha die Band, die als Trio weitermachte. Der Vertrag mit Anagram Records hielt bis zum 94er-Album "Inferno - The Odyssey Continues", danach gründete Alien Sex Fiend das eigene Label 13th Moon Records, wo die Alben "Nocturnal Emissions" 1997, "Information Overload" 2004, "Para-Abnormal" 2006 und "Death Trip" 2010 erschienen. Zuletzt erschien 2018 bei Cherry Red Records das Album "Possessed". Nik Fiend: We're influenced by so many different things... not just music... but films, comics etc. , from some mainstream stuff through to more bizarre or underground things. It doesn't matter where it comes from, it's whether the particular thing is any good. Life is probably the biggest inspiration to me... circumstances, situations, trying to understand other people's plights; there's a lot of hurt about, but a lot of good things, too, thank fuck. So everything influences me. The music is affected by all that. Even a cup of tea at the right moment has its influence! I write and record music because, like everyone else, I get pissed off and angry, but also because I do get excited and some things make me very happy... and all of that goes into the music and my art. I'm an emotional person and my music acts as my therapy! Of course like everyone else, we get the banana skins of life to deal with... it's like that old board game Snakes & Ladders... it's up and down. In meiner Sammlung befinden sich von Alien Sex Fiend die EP "Hurricane Fighter Plane" 1986, die Alben "Another Planet" 1988 und "Curse" 1990 sowie die 2002 bei Anagram Records erschienene Compilation "The Beat Of Alien Sex Fiend", yeah, da ist auch der Song "Dead And Buried" drauf zu finden. Oho, in meinem Rocklexikon aus dem Jahre 1998 findet sich kein Eintrag zu Alien Sex Fiend. Schande. Es gibt auch keinen Eintrag über Gothic oder Dark Wave, da wurde ein Teil der Popmusik einfach vergessen oder ignoriert. Auch im Buch "1001 Alben - Musik, die Sie hören sollten, bevor das Leben vorbei ist" 2006 kommt kein Album von Alien Sex Fiend vor. Naja, da fehlen viele tolle Alben, so wie in dieser Liste auch viele tolle Songs fehlen werden. Huch. Habe gerade das Buch "Geschichte wird gemacht - Deutscher Underground in den Achtzigern" gelesen, es ist 2018 bei Heyne Hardcore erschienen. Das Buch versammelt eine Menge Fotos von ar/gee alias Richard Gleim, die dieser in den 80er Jahren bei Konzerten im Rattinger Hof in Düsseldorf, im Exxzess in Berlin und anderen Veranstaltungsorten gemacht hat. Die Fotos sind gut, was man von den im Buch auch versammelten Texten nicht unbedingt behaupten kann. ar/gee machte 1982 auch Fotos beim Plasmatics-Konzert im Metropol in Berlin, die Fotos sind durchaus gelungen, nur dass Wendy O. Williams im Begleittext durchgehend Wendy O. Jackson genannt wird, finde ich, spricht nicht sehr für die Kompetenz der Herausgeber, die ich deshalb hier auch gar nicht erwähne. Die Fotos sollte man aber durchaus gesehen haben, yeah!
