Experimental Pop, yeah. Bradford Reed wurde 1969 geboren, lebt in Brooklyn, New York und erfand Anfang der 80er Jahre das Pencilina, eine double neck 3rd bridge guitar. Im Jahr 1994 erschien beim Label God Mountain das Album "The Firefishers With Bradford Reed And His Amazing Pencilina". Bradford Reed: This was my band 1991-95. Strange pop songs with 3 female vocalists, pencilina, sax, drums and percussion. Produced by Tuxedomoon’s Peter Principle. Wer die anderen Firefishers waren verrät uns Bradford Reed leider nicht, schade. Mit dem japanischen Musiker Akio 'Hoppy' Kamiyama veröffentlichte Bradford Reed die beiden Alben "The Bubbleman" 1999 und "The Bubbleman 2 (A Day Of The Iron Sausage)" 2000. Das Cover von Bubbleman 2 verrät uns auch die beteiligten Musiker*innen und die verwendeten Instrumente, Akio 'Hoppy' Kamiyama (Space Violin, Voice, Digital President, Slide Geisha, Ass Hole Box, Scum Tape From The Garbage), Bradford Reed (Pencilina, Drums, Percussion, Voice, Treatment), Jane Scarpantoni (Cello) und Jane LeCroy (Voice). Im Jahr 1998 wurde Bradford Reed Mitglied bei der Art-Pop-Band King Missile III, die 1986 von John S. Hall (Vocals), Dogbowl alias Stephen Tunney (Guitar, Backing Vocals), George O'Malley (Xylophone, Chimes, Shouting), Alex DeLaszlo (Bass, Harmonica, Saxophone, Backing Vocals) und Rebecca Korbet (Drums, Vocals) unter dem Namen King Missile (Dog Fly Religion) in New York gegründet wurde. Ende der 80er Jahre, nach dem Weggang von Dogbowl kürzte die Band ihren Namen auf King Missile. Die Band hatte 1992 mit dem Song "Detachable Penis" sogar einen kleinen Hit in den USA. King Missile lösten sich 1995 auf und wurden 1997 von John S. Hall unter dem Namen King Missile III neu gestartet. Diesmal gehörten neben John S. Hall die Musiker*innen Bradford Reed (Pencilina, Synthesizer, Organ, Piano, Melodica, Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals), Sasha Forte (Bass, Guitar, Violin, Viola, Indian Bells, Backing Vocals), Charles Curtis (Guitar, Cello, Backing Vocals) und Jane Scarpantoni (Synthesizer, Cello) zur Band. Als King Missile III veröffentlichte die Band die Alben "Failure" 1998, "The Psychopathology Of Everyday Life" 2003 und "Royal Lunch" 2004. Inzwischen gibt es bereits King Missile IV, die 2015 bei Powertool Records das Minialbum "The Fuckin' Guy" veröffentlichten. "The Fuckin' Guy" wurde in der Besetzung John S. Hall, Azalia Snail (Electronic) und Dan West (Electronic) aufgenommen. Bradford Reed hat nach dem Ende von King Missile III mit der Band Moodring 2006 bei Nillacat Records das Album "Moodring With Bradford Reed And His Amazing Pencilina" veröffentlicht. Weiter ging es dann bei ihm mit der experimental improvisational group Ω▽, sprich Ohmslice, von der 2017 das Album "Conduit" bei Imaginator Records erschienen ist. Bradford Reed: Every year, I go to this kind of crazy psychedelic summer camp party-type of thing upstate. My friend Jane LeCroy, the poet, was up there, and we ended up improvising together because the person whom I normally improvise with wasn't there. It was this impromptu thing. Also, I've been double drumming with my drum brother Josh Mathews, whom I've played with since we were teenagers. Eventually, everything came together with Josh, Jane, and Daniel Carter, the saxophone/horn player, and Bill Bronson, who has been stepping in with guitar. It's a crew of people who bring their own thing on top of the foundation of this drummer through the modular synth. Und zuletzt erfreute uns Bradford Reed 2019 mit dem Soloalbum "What's Good For The Goose Is Good". Der Song "Motivational Music For Pedestrians" ist auf der 1998 beim Label Ellipsis Arts erschienenen Compilation "Orbitones Spoon Harps & Bellowphones - Experimental Musical Instruments" zu finden. Yeah. Darauf spielen Musiker*innen Instrumente mit Namen wie Zgamonium, Great Island Mouthbow, Kotar, Stiltophone, Pongophone, Huaca, Gram Pan oder Aqualung. Bei Ellipsis Arts erschien 1996 auch die ebenso tolle Compilation "Gravikords, Whirlies & Pyrophones - Experimental Musical Instruments" sowie 2000 die 3-CD-Box "OHM - The Early Gurus Of Electronic Music (1948-1980)".
