Nochmals Punk'n'Funk, yeah. Die Bush Tetras wurden 1979 von Pat Place (Guitar) und Cynthia Sley (Vocals) in New York gegründet. Die anderen beiden Bush Tetras waren Laura Kennedy (Bass) und Dee Pop alias Dimitri Papadopoulos (Drums). Im Jahr 1980 erschien bei 99 Records die Single "Too Many Creeps / Snakes Crawl / You Taste Like The Tropics" und 1981 bei Fetish Records erschienen die EP "Rituals" und die beiden Singles "Things That Go Boom In The Night / Das Ah Riot" und "Can’t Be Funky / Can’t Be Funky (Instrumental)". Mit den Songs "Too Many Creeps" und "Things That Go Boom In The Night" schafften es die Bush Tetras sogar in die Charts, zwar nicht in die Top Ten, auch nicht in die Top Twenty, aber immerhin. Bei ROIR (ReachOut International Records) erschien 1983 das Album "Wild Things" und danach lösten sich die Bush Tetras auf. Doch 1995 versuchten es die Bush Tetras in der Originalbesetzung ein zweites Mal und 1996 erschien die Single "Page 18 / Find A Lie" sowie 1997 das Album "Beauty Lies" bei Tim/Kerr Records. Sie nahmen mit Produzent Don Fleming auch noch das Album "Happy" auf, doch 1998 lösten sich die Bush Tetras wieder auf und "Happy" blieb vorerst unveröffentlicht. Im Jahr 2005 kehrten die Bush Tetras ein drittes Mal zurück in die Popwelt, anstelle von Laura Kennedy war nun Julia Murphy am Bass und 2007 erschien das Album "Very Very Happy" beim Label ROIR. Laura Kennedy starb 2011 an einer Lebererkrankung. Das Label ROIR brachte 2012 dann auch das Album "Happy" aus den 90er Jahren auf den Markt. Im Jahr 2013 verließ Julia Murphy die Bush Tetras wieder und Cindy Rickmond übernahm das Bassspielen. Der Song "Can’t Be Funky" ist ebenfalls auf der 2003 bei Soul Jazz Records erschienenen CompilationCD "New York Noise - Dance Music From The New York Underground 1978-1982" zu finden. Tolle CD, darauf zu hören sind noch die Bands Liquid Liquid, Konk, The Dance, Material, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, DNA, Rahmelzee & K.Rob, The Contortions, Glenn Branca, Dinosaur L, Theoretical Girls, Mars, ESG und Defunkt. Okay, jetzt noch ein Schlusswort von Kevin Coyne und dann ab ins Bettchen.
