Outsider Pop, yeah. Über Daniel Johnston habe ich ja bereits einiges erzählt, aber ich glaube, ich hab vergessen zu erwähnen, dass er auch in mehrere Bands involviert war. Beim Album "Hi, How Are You: The Unfinished Album" 1983 wird bei den Songs "Desperate Man Blues" und "Keep Punching Joe" die Band Big Band Danny & The Danksworth Orchestra erwähnt, die gabs aber nicht wirklich. Bei diesen beiden Songs singt Daniel Johnston und dazu läuft im Hintergrund Instrumentalmusik vom Jazzmusiker Johnny Dankworth und seinem Orchester. Johnny Dankworth hat die Erkennungsmelodie für die Fernsehserie "Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone" komponiert. Yeah! Wirklich gegeben hat es die Bands Danny & The Nightmares, Hyperjinx Trycicle und The Electric Ghosts. Danny & The Nighmares waren Daniel Johnston, Jason Nightmare alias Jason Damron und Bridget Nightmare alias Bridget Gallo. Danny & The Nighmares haben die Alben "Danny And The Nighmares" 1999, "The End Is Near Again" 2002, "Freak Brain" 2005 und "Death Of Satan" 2013 veröffentlicht. Hyperjinx Trycicle waren Daniel Johnston, Jack Medicine alias Don Goede und Ron English. Von Hyperjinx Trycicle erschienen das Album "The Songs Of Jack Medicine, Daniel Johnston & Ron English" 2001 sowie die beiden EPs "Greetings From The Hyperjinx Trycicle" 2002 und "Alien Mind Control" 2003. Daniel Johnston und Jack Medicine machten nach dem Ende von Hyperjinx Trycicle als The Electric Ghosts weiter und veröffentlichten unter diesem Namen 2006 das Album "The Electric Ghost". Auf diesem Album ist eine tolle Coverversion des Songs "Scary Monsters" von David Bowie zu finden. Daniel Johnston starb leider 2019 im Alter von 58 Jahren an einem Herzinfarkt. Shit! Daniel Johnston: I've been a manic-depressive since junior high school. When it first happened I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I was dead. Nothing made sense anymore. Then I read about manic-depression in a book and realised what was happening. But after all these years I've got the right doctors and the right medication. I've been well for a few years now. My moods are finally under control. Daniel Johnston darf jedenfalls in keiner guten Popsammlung fehlen. Yeah!
