Half Japanese sind noch immer aktiv, ihr bisher letztes Album "Crazy Hearts" erschien 2020 bei Fire Records. Es wurde in der Besetzung Jad Fair, John Sluggett (Guitar, Synthesizer), Mick Hobbs (Guitar, Organ), Jason Willett (Bass) und Gilles Rieder (Drums, Percussion, Synthesizer) aufgenommen. Stevie Moore, Nao alias Naofumi Ishimaru, Bill Wells, Tenniscoats, Norman Blake, Doc Wör Mirran oder The Pastels. Mit seinem Stiefsohn Simon Fair Timony nahm Jad Fair unter dem Namen The Stinky Puffs 1995 das Album "A Littly Tiny Smelly Bit Of The Stinky Puffs" auf, die Band bestand aus Simon Fair Timony (Vocals), Cody Linn Ranaldo (Guitar), Don Fleming (Guitar), Eric Eble (Bass), Sheenah Fair (Drums) und Jad Fair (Effects). Cody Linn Ranaldo ist der Sohn von Lee Ranaldo, dem ehemaligen Gitarristen von Sonic Youth, und Sheenah Fair ist die Mutter von Simon Fair Timony, ganz sicher bin ich mir da aber nicht.
