Der Song "Museum Of Love" stammt aus der Feder von Daniel Johnston und erschien 1983 auf seinem Album "Yip/Jump Music". Über Kathy McCarty (Vocals, Guitar) ist nicht allzuviel rauszufinden, jedenfalls stammt sie aus Austin, Texas, wo sie 1983 mit Stella Weir (Keyboards, Vocals), Brian Beattie (Bass, Vocals) und Scott Marcus (Drums, Vocals) die Art-Pop-Band Glass Eye gründete. Nach der selbstfinanzierten EP "Marlo" erschien 1986 bei Wrestler Records das Debütalbum "Huge". Stella Weir und Scott Marcus verließen Glass Eye 1987 und wurden von Sheri Lane (Keyboards, Guitar) und Dave Cameron (Drums) ersetzt. Die Band unterschrieb bei Bar/None Records und 1988 erschien das zweite Album "Bent By Nature". Für das dritte Album "Hello Young Lovers" 1989 kehrten die Gründungsmitglieder Stella Weir und Scott Marcus zur Band zurück und Sheri Lane und Dave Cameron verabschiedeten sich wieder. Sheri Lane machte mit den Horsies weiter und Dave Cameron stieg bei Evil Hook Wildlife ET ein, der Band von Roky Erickson. Bei Bar/None Records erschien 1991 noch die Single "Satellite Of Love / Rock Of Hand" von Glass Eye und danach verabschiedete sich die Band von der Popwelt. Nach dem Ende von Glass Eye veröffentlichte Kathy McCarty bei Bar/None Records das Album "Dead Dog’s Eyeball - Songs Of Daniel Johnston", auf dem auch ihre Version des Songs "Museum Of Love" zu hören ist. Musikalisch unterstützt wird Kathy McCarty auf diesem Album von Brian Beattie. Bei Bar/None Records erschien 1995 noch das Minialbum "Sorry Entertainer" und dann ließ Kathy McCarty lange Zeit nichts von sich hören. Im Jahr 2005 erschien dann ihr zweites Soloalbum "Another Day In The Sun" bei RexyRex Records und 2006 taten sich Glass Eye in Originalbesetzung wieder zusammen und veröffentlichten bei Glass Eye Records das Album "Every Woman’s Fantasy", das sich aus 4 neuen Songs und 8 überarbeiteten Demos von Anfang der 90er Jahre zusammensetzt. Vor ihrer Zeit mit Glass Eye hat Kathy McCarty bereits in der Band Buffalo Gals gespielt. Die Band Buffalo Gals bestanden aus Liz Gall (Vocals, Bass), Kathy McCarty (Guitar, Vocals) und Jamie Spidle (Drums) und hinterließ uns den Song "I Love Dancing With Joshua", der auf der 1983 bei New Alliance Records erschienenen Compilation "Mighty Feeble" zu finden ist. Aerobic noise from the Beverly Hills workout! Im Film "Slacker" 1991 von Richard Linklater ist der Song "White Walls" von Glass Eye zu hören. Habe gerade den Song "The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" von Julie Brown entdeckt, für diese Liste zu spät, aber hört ihn euch an, er macht Freude. Die Single "The Homecoming Queen’s Got A Gun (Censored) / The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun (Uncensored)" erschien 1983 bei Rhino Records. Julie Brown ist ja eigentlich Schauspielerin, aber ab und zu veröffentlicht sie eben auch tolle Singles, zuletzt 2005 "I Want To Be Gay". Good night!
