Mutant Disco aus dem New Yorker Underground, yeah. Pulsallama bestand angeblich mal aus 12 Musikerinnen, obwohl auf Bildern der Band, zumindest denen die ich kenne, immer nur 7 abgebildet sind. In einer Kritik heißt es sogar: 13 girls fighting over a cowbell. Egal. Pulsallama war von 1981 bis 1983 aktiv und hinterließ uns die beiden Singles "Ungawa Pt. II (Way Out Guiana) / The Devil Lives In My Husband’s Body" 1982 und "Oui-Oui (A Canadian In Paris) / Pulsallama On The Rag" 1983 bei Y Records. Zur Band gehörten auf jeden Fall Ann Magnuson (Vocals, Tambourine), Dany Johnson (Steel Drums, Synare), Jean Caffeine alias Jean Leider (Drum Kit, Gourds), Lori 'Bubbles' Montana (Bass), Min 'The Bonefinder' Thometz (Bongos), Stace 'Timbalina' Elkin (Timbales, Percussion) und Wendy Wild alias Wendy Andreiev (Water Jug, Woopie Whistle, Vocals). Ann Magnuson wurde Ende der 80er Jahre als Sängerin der Band Bongwater etwas bekannter und veröffentlichte die Soloalben "The Luv Show" 1995, "Pretty Songs & Ugly Stories" 2006 und "Dream Girl" 2016, ihr Geld verdient sie aber hauptsächlich als Schauspielerin. Dany Johnson tauchte nach Pulsallama noch als Produzentin der Single "Bump And Grind It / Hustle With My Muscle" 1986 von John Sex alias John MacLoughlin in der Popwelt auf. John Sex starb 1990 im Alter von 34 Jahren an AIDS. Jean Caffeine gründete die kurzlebige Band Jean Caffeine's All-Nite Truckstop und veröffentlichte die Soloalben "Knocked Down 7 Times Got Up 8" 1996, "Idee Fixe" 2000, "Geckos In The Elevator" 2011 und "Sadie Saturday Nite" 2017. Lori 'Bubbles' Montana war vor Pulsallama bereits mit der Band ART, The Only Band In The World unterwegs, die 1980 die EP "The Only Record In The World" beim eigenen Label The Only Label In The World veröffentlichte. Nach ihrer Zeit mit Pulsallama scheint sie der Popwelt Ade gesagt zu haben. Min 'The Bonefinder' Thomerz veröffentlichte 1984 noch mit der Band Digette die Single "Fred From Jupiter", eine Version des Songs "Fred vom Jupiter" 1981 von Andreas Dorau & Die Marinas. Über Stace 'Timbalina' Elkin ist außer ihrer Mitwirkung bei Pulsallama nichts zu finden und Wendy Wild war danach noch mit den kurzlebigen Bands Das Furlines, Mad Violets, Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation und The Wild Hyenas in der Popwelt unterwegs. Das Furlines und The Wild Hyenas brachten es nur auf ein paar Samplerbeiträge, Mad Violets veröffentlichten die EP "World Of..." 1986 und Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation die beiden Alben "Spread The Word" 1986 und "Delegation-Time" 1988. Bei Zoar Records erschien 1982 die Compilation "State Of The Union", auf der Pulsallama mit dem Song "May" vertreten sind, bei dessen Aufnahme auch noch die Musikerinnen Andé Whyland (Bass), Miss April Palmieri (Vocals, Percussion) und Kimberly 'Princess' Davis (Vocals) mit dabei waren. Bei Modern Harmonic Records erschien 2020 die Compilation "Pulsallama", da sind die Songs "Ungawa Pt. II (Way Out Guiana)", "The Devil Lives In My Husband’s Body" und "Oui-Oui (A Canadian In Paris)" von den Singles drauf, "Pulsallama On The Rag" und "May" fehlen, dafür gibts noch die Songs "Temple Of The Sun", "Rhythm Method", "Trash" und "Ulsapay Amallay". Außerdem wird darauf noch die Musikerin Judy Strong (Bass) gelistet. Der Song "The Devil Lives In My Husband’s Body" ist auch auf der 2006 beim Label V2 Music erschienenen Compilation "Rip It Up And Start Again - Postpunk 1978-1984" zu finden. Diese Compilation wurde von Simon Reynolds, dem Autor des gleichnamigen Buches, zusammengestellt. Pulsallama were an all-female big band, they initially played together in a one-off performance for a bacchanalian party at artists' hangout Club 57, but found the experience such fun that they decided to form a band. Pulsallama were part of a group of friends who in mock formality called themselves The Ladies Auxiliary of the Lower East Side and together organised parties and pooled useful information ...by keeping a secret file with the names of all the men they'd slept with!, steht im Booklet der 2005 bei Soul Jazz Records erschienenen Compilation "New York Noise Vol.2 - Music From The New York Underground 1977-1984" über Pulsallama, die darauf mit dem Song "Ungawa Pt.
