Red Star Belgrade ist ein Alternative Country-Duo aus Chapel Hill, North Carolina, bestehend aus Bill Curry (Vocals, Guitar, Slide Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Piano, Organ, Bass, E-Bow, Melodica) und Graham Harris-Curry (Vocals, Drums, Percussion, Timpani). Die beiden sind laut Internet ein Ehepaar. Das Duo hat sich wirklich nach dem Fußballclub SK Roter Stern Belgrad benannt, keine Ahnung warum. Egal. Bei Pull It On A Cracker Records erschien 1996 das Debütalbum "Where The Sun Doesn't Shine". Pull It On A Cracker Records scheint ein Label gewesen zu sein, das das Ehepaar selbst betrieb. Das zweite Album "End Of The Line" erschien 1998 bei Loose Records, danach gabs noch 2 Alben bei Checkered Past Records, "The Fractured Hymnal" 1999 und "Telescope" 2000 sowie 2 Alben bei Blue Rose Records, "Secrets & Lies" 2002 und "The Real Traitors" 2004. Seither herrscht leider irgendwie Stille bei Red Star Belgrade. Bill Curry: It always kind of broke my heart that Red Star Belgrades records never reached a wider audience. I don't say that with any sense of self-pity, but it's true. I'm certainly thankful for the 10-plus years that I spent playing music with my wife, Graham, and a cavalcade of friends, ne’er do wells, alcoholics, and manic depressives. I don't regret a moment, and I wouldn't change a thing. I just always believed that if more people could have heard our brand of despair-filled, self-loathing rock, they might have felt a little less alone. If you'd have told me at the beginning that Red Star Belgrade would never be famous, I would have just given you a wry smile and went right back to my guitar. Although I never wanted to be famous in a 'rock star' sense, I did want our music to be heard. I really thought we had something unique to say. I still do. Graham was a great drummer and we did everything with passion and a whole lot of heart. There were bands that could play circles around us (and my voice was never the most pleasing one on the planet), but we meant every word we said. I thought that was all that really mattered. Es ist ein tolles Album, yeah! Graham Harris-Curry spielte vor Red Star Belgrade bereits in der Band Lud, die 1992 von Kirk Ross (Guitar, Vocals), Bryon Settle (Guitar, Vocals), Paul Price (Bass) und Graham Harris-Curry (Drums, Vocals) gegründet wurde. Graham Harris-Curry verließ Lud nach dem Debütalbum "Apalachicola" 1995. Auf dem 2019 bei Compass Records erschienenen Album "Where The Dogs Don't Bite" von der Band Old Salt Union ist Graham Harris-Curry als Gastmusikerin mit dabei, beim Song "Heartbroke & Lonesome" als Sängerin und Gitarristin und beim Song "Where the Dogs Don't Bite" als Backgroundsängerin.
