Der Song "Celebrity Lifestyle" stammt jedenfalls vom Swans-Album "The Great Annihilator", das 1994 bei Young God Records erschienen ist. Bei diesem Album wirkten neben Michael Gira (Vocals, Guitar, Sounds) und Jarboe La Salle Devereaux (Vocals, Keyboards, Sounds) noch die Musiker Clinton Steele (Guitar), Norman Westberg (Guitar), Algis Kizys (Bass), Bill Rieflin (Drums, Sounds, Guitar, Percussion) und Ted Parsons (Drums) mit. Die Swans bestanden von 1982 bis 1997, dann gabs eine lange Pause, und seit 2010 sind sie wieder aktiv, zuletzt erschien 2019 das Album "Leaving Meaning" bei Young God Records. Die Band besteht aktuell aus Michael Gira, Kristof Hahn (Lap Steel Guitar, Guitar, Vocals), Larry Mullins (Drums, Mellotron, Percussion, Vibes, Vocals) und Yoyo Röhm (Bass, Keyboards, Vocals). Ohne Michael Gira würde es natürlich auch keine Swans geben, er hat sie 1982 mit Sue Hanel (Guitar), Thurston Moore (Bass), Jonathan Kane (Drums) und Mojo (Percussion, Tape Loops) in New York gegründet. Jarboe La Salle Devereaux war von 1984 bis 1997 mit dabei und schaute 2012 nochmals kurz bei den Swans vorbei. Sie hat 2020 beim eigenen Label The Living Jarboe das Album "A Tulpa" veröffentlicht. In der Zeit, als die Swans ruhten, war Michael Gira mit der Band The Angels Of Light in der Popwelt unterwegs, die von 1999 bis 2007 insgesamt 6 Alben bei Young God Records veröffentlichten. Das Label Young God Records wurde 1990 von Michael Gira gegründet und startete mit einer Neuauflage des 1983 bei Neztral Records erschienenen ersten Swans-Albums "Filth". Neben den Swans und The Angels Of Light erschienen auch mehrere Soloalben von Michael Gira sowie das Album "Ten Songs For Another World" 1990 von The World Of Skin bei Young God Records. The World Of Skin bzw. Skin waren Michael Gira und Jarboe La Salle Devereaux. Aber auch Musiker wie Devendra Banhart oder Bands wie Akron/Family veröffentlichten mehrere Alben bei Young God Records. Michael Gira: I could never release something on the label I didn't personally love. The label's really an extension of my own musical career, and I'm intensely involved with every aspect personally, so it'd be a betrayal to myself if I released something simply because I thought it would make money. Vor den Swans spielte Michael Gira bei der Punkband Circus Mort, die 1981 die EP "Circus Mort" veröffentlichte. Die Band bestand aus Michael Gira (Vocals), Josh Braun (Keyboards, Vocals), Rick Oller (Guitar, Vocals), Dan Braun (Bass) und Jonathan Kane (Drums). Josh Braun und Dan Braun spielten danach bei den Del-Byzanteens, der Band des Filmemachers Jim Jarmusch. The Del-Byzanteens veröffentlichten 1982 beim Label Don't Fall Of The Mountain das Album "Lies To Live By" und bestanden aus den Musikern Jim Jarmusch (Vocals, Keyboards), Phil Kline (Vocals, Guitar), Philippe Hagen (Bass), Dan Braun (Drums, Percussion) und Josh Braun (Percussion, Drums). So, jetzt noch ein nettes Schlusswort von Michael Gira: Making those CDs, signing them, numbering them, packing them. It takes hundreds of hours, but it's worth it because I'm able to do the thing I love.
