Turkey Makes Me Sleepy waren Charles Rice Goff III, Mikadams alias Michael Adams und Eric Matchett, yeah. A brave adventure into scary county with C. Goff III, Mikadams and Eric Matchett. This is an eight track album, that kicks off with the very, very odd "Sandman", again it's in the Residents style. What I've found most striking about Goff III's work is despite the fact that he does produce music in a definite style, it's so varied. I'm constantly surprised how CGIII continues to amaze and stretch the limits of experimental music. The "Faith Healer" starts with an eerie layer of organ music with overlaid samples of religious ramblings, cheering and then we're off. The whole album's a really unsettling experiment on the marriage of sound and cut ups, dialogue and music. Tracks such as "We're An American Band", "Perry Coma", and "Disquietude" are all marvellously rich and at the same time unnerving. In many respects this album represents a totally new direction in not just music, but the moods it conveys. Charles Rice Goff III betreibt seit Mitte der 80er Jahre das Label Taped Rugs Productions, underground cassette culture, experimental, avant garde, electronic, dada, sound collage, noise etcetera. Sein erstes Bandprojekt, dessen Tonträger er über Taped Rugs Productions vertrieb nannte sich Disism und bestand aus Charles Rice Goff III (Vocals, Guitar, Steel Guitar, Bass, Tambourine, Maracas, Kazoo, Saxophone) und Killr 'Mark' Kaswan (Vocals, Cello, Jew's Harp, Guitar). Die letzte Kassette von Disism, "Head Cold Fog", erschien 1990, aber bereits 1989 startete Charles Rice Goff III mit dem neuen Bandprojekt Herd Of The Ether Space und der Kassette "Hardware Murals". Im Jahr 1990 erschien dann mit "Volatile Volitions" die erste Solokassette von Charles Rice Goff III. Oh, bevor ichs vergesse, Taped Rugs Productions ist in Lawrence, Kansas zuhause. Mit Steve Schaer bildete Charles Rice Goff III ab Mitte der 90er Jahre das Projekt -Ing, das einige Songs auf Samplern von Labeln wie Ecto Tapes oder EE Tapes veröffentlichte. "Swimming In The Sound Soup", die Debütkassette von Turkey Makes Me Sleepy erschien 1997, ja, Taped Rugs Productions blieb der Kassette bis 2000 treu, erst dann erschienen vermehrt CDr's und mp3's. Uups, auf dieser Debütkassette erschien auch zum ersten Mal der Song "Edna Lena Loo", das bei Prion Music erschienene Album "The Fluff Of Feather Pillow" ist nämlich eine Compilation und die Songs darauf entstanden in den Jahren 1997 und 1998. Sorry! Von Mikadams erschien 1997 die Solokassette "Uh Oh! Here She Comes" bei Taped Rugs Production. Das letzte Lebenszeichen von Turkey Makes Me Sleepy war die CDr "The Big Part Of The Wishbone" 2007 und Charles Rice Goff III hat zuletzt 2017 das mp3-Album "Degenerate Art" bei Taped Rugs Productions veröffentlicht. Charles Rice Goff III: For me, producing music/recordings is a sacred act. In the days before 19th Century, it was rare for anyone to make a profit from creating music. There are still many societies on our planet where music exists completely outside of the capitalist universe, where it's only function is to enhance religious rituals, festivals & other gatherings of people in community. I'm of the belief that music made for profit often taints its essence, reducing one of the most precious gifts that humans have been blessed with to the size of a wrinkled dollar bill. Yeah! Meine Band, Das Fröhliche Wohnzimmer, hat 2007 bei Prion Music das Album "Knocking On Wohnzimmers Door" veröffentlicht, das ist ebenfalls ein Sampler mit Songs aus den Jahren 1985 bis 2007, beteiligt daran waren die Musiker*innen Susa Binder, Ilse Kilic, Bernhard Kölbersberger, Stefan Krist, Sonja Wally und Fritz Widhalm, das bin ich.
