Der Song "I Wish It Would Rain" ist vom Album "The Wonderful World Of Wreckless Eric", das 1978 bei Stiff Records erschienen ist. Wreckless Eric wird auf dem Album von den Musikern Malcolm Morley (Guitar), Eunan Brady (Guitar), Pete Solley (Keyboards), John Brown (Bass) und Geir Waade (Drums) unterstützt. Pete Solley war auch der Produzent des Albums und ist einigen von euch vielleicht durch seine Mitwirkung bei Bands wie Chris Farlowe & The Thunderbirds, Procol Harum, Paladin oder Snafu bekannt. "I Wish It Would Rain" ist auch die B-Side der Single "Crying, Waiting, Hoping", einem Song von Buddy Holly, der im Original 1959 als B-Side der Single "Peggy Sue Got Married" bei Coral Records erschienen ist. Das Label Stiff Records wurde 1976 von Dave Robinson und Jake Riviera gegründet und startete mit den Singles "So It Goes / Heart Of The City" von Nick Lowe, "Between The Lines / Spoiling For A Fight" von den Pink Fairies, "All Aboard / Cincinatti Fatback" von Roogalator, "Styrofoam / Texas Chainsaw Massacre Boogie" von der Tyla Gang und "Boogie On The Street / Caravan Man" von Lew Lewis. Berühmt wurden auch die so genannten Stiff Tours, erstens) die Live Stiff Tour 1977 mit Elvis Costello & The Attractions, Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Wreckless Eric & The New Rockets, Nick Lowe’s Last Chicken In The Shop und Larry Wallis’ Psychedelic Rowdies, zweitens) die Be Stiff Route 1978 mit Wreckless Eric & The Four Rough Men, Lene Lovich & The Musicians Union, Jona Lewie & Two’s Company, Mickey Jupp & The Cable Layers und Rachel Sweet & The Records sowie drittens) die Son Of Stiff Tour 1980 mit Tenpole Tudor, Any Trouble, Dirty Looks, Joe ‘King’ Carrasco & The Crowns und The Equators. Der Song "Be Stiff" 1977 von Devo wurde während der Be Stiff Route auch von Lene Lovich, Mickey Jupp, Wreckless Eric, Rachel Sweet und Jona Lewie interpretiert und 1979 als EP "Be Stiff Route" veröffentlicht. Mickey Jupp: All versions were recorded on the Stiff mobile at a sound check during the tour one very cold October afternoon. Der Song "I Wish It Would Rain" ist in meiner Popsammlung auf der 2001 bei Metro Records erschienenen Compilation "Wreckless Eric - Greatest Stiffs" zu finden. Wreckless Eric sollte eigentlich in keiner Popmusiksammlung fehlen. Yeah! Hört euch auch den Song "Zwischen Liebe und Zorn" 1972 von der Klaus Renft Combo an, die wurde 1958 in Leipzig gegründet und bekam 1962 Auftrittsverbot. Aufgrund der Liberalisierung der DDR-Kulturpolitik Anfang der 70er Jahre konnte die Klaus Renft Combo dann doch 2 Alben verwirklichen, wurde 1975 dann aber neuerdings verboten und löste sich auf. Klaus Renft hieß eigentlich Klaus Jentzsch, Renft war der Geburtsname seiner Mutter, den er dann als Künstlername führte, er starb 2006 im Alter von 64 Jahren an Darmkrebs.
