Nick Cave und seine Bad Seeds hatten wir schon in dieser Liste, yeah. Aber der Song "The Train Song" sollte eigentlich in keiner Popsammlung fehlen, er ist 1990 als B-Side der Single "The Sheep Song" bei Mute Records erschienen. Der Song ist ebenfalls auf der 2005 bei Mute Records erschienenen 3-CD-Box "B-Sides & Rarities" zu finden. Sehr, sehr hörenswert. Eigentlich ist mir die Figur, die Nick Cave verkörpert, gar nicht so sympathisch, doch er hat mit allen seinen Bands tolle Popmusik gemacht und dafür liebe ich ihn. Nick Cave erinnert mich immer ein bisschen an Lee Marvin in seiner Rolle als Ben Rumson im Film "Westwärts zieht der Wind" 1969. In diesem Film singt Lee Marvin auch den wundervollen Song "Wand’rin’ Star". Der Song wurde von Alan J. Lerner und Frederick Loewe 1951 für das Musical "Paint Your Wagon" geschrieben. "Westwärts zieht der Wind" ist die Verfilmung dieses Musicals unter der Regie von Joshua Logan. Aber irgendwie vermischmascht sich bei Nick Cave die Figur des Ben Rumson mit der Figur des Mormonen Jacob Woodling, der im Film von John Mitchum, dem jüngeren Bruder von Robert Mitchum, gespielt wird. Nick Cave verkörpert für mich eine Art religiösen Ben Rumson, yeah. Leider hat er mit den Bad Seeds noch keine Version des Songs "Wand’rin Star" aufgenommen. Schade, schade! Nick Cave hat eigentlich mit allen seinen bisherigen Bands, also mit The Boys Next Door, The Birthday Party, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds und Grinderman, tolle Popmusik gemacht. Nick Cave: I love rock'n'roll. I think it's an exciting art form. It's revolutionary. Still revolutionary and it changed people. It changed their hearts. But yeah, even rock'n'roll has a lot of rubbish, really bad music. Nick Cave hat auch mehrere Bücher geschrieben, die Romane "Und die Eselin sah den Engel" 1989 und "Der Tod des Bunny Munro" 2009 oder das Epos "Das Spucktütenlied - The Sick Bag Song" 2016. Nick Cave wird heuer, 2022, auch bereits 65 Jahre alt, er ist sozusagen 1 Jahr jünger als ich. Nick Cave: The only person who can say they're happy getting old is someone who isn't old yet. Every day, I get less and less happy about that idea. Okay. Jetzt will ich euch noch den Song "She Wears A Hemispherical Skull Cap" 1981 von Craig Leon zum Anhören empfehlen. Electronic Ambient Music, yeah. Craig Leon ist ein us-amerikanischer Komponist, Musiker und Produzent. Er hat u.a. Platten von den Ramones, Suicide, Richard Hell & The Voidoids, The Pogues oder The Fall produziert. Craig Leon ist Jahrgang 1952, also er wird heuer 70 Jahre alt. Craig Leon: My mother played piano. I would sit under the piano and hear things and then I'd start banging out my own stuff at four or five years old. They sent me to a very good teacher from Germany who had taught at Oberlin College and retired near us. She taught me the dramatic method of playing the piano. I was playing sophisticated pieces, and the usual repertoire of Bach and Liszt, when I was very, very young. But then in the 60s I thought it was much cooler to be involved with pop music, so I used my classical knowledge to learn to arrange and produce records. I had the advantage of watching Arif Mardin and all these great pop people down in Florida constructing records that were done almost the same way as classical records, which is kind of what we did.
