Die Sparks und Faith No More hatten wir bereits in meiner Sweetheart-Liste und auch der Song "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us" ist bereits deren Bestandteil, er war 1974 ein großer Hit für die Sparks. Aber auch die Version gemeinsam mit Faith No More, zu finden auf dem Sparks-Album "Plagiarism" 1997, ist toll und sollte in keiner Popsammlung fehlen, yeah. Die Sparks waren 1997 Russell Mael (Vocals) und Ron Mael (Keyboards) und Faith No More waren Mike Patton (Vocals), John Hudson (Guitar), Roddy Bottum (Keyboards, Guitar), Billy Gould (Bass) und Mike Bordin (Drums, Percussion). Geschrieben wurde der Song von Ron Mael. Auf dem Album "Plagiarism" interpretieren die Sparks Songs aus ihrer langen Karriere neu. Die Band Faith No More ist auch noch beim Song "Something For The Girl With Everything" mit dabei und beim Song "The Number One Song In Heaven" ist Jimmy Sommerville als Gastsänger zu hören. Jimmy Sommerville sollte euch von den Bands Bronski Beat und The Communards bekannt sein. Bronski Beat hatten mit Songs wie "Smalltown Boy" 1984 oder "Hit That Perfect Beat" 1985 Hits und The Communards mit "Don't Leave Me This Way"1986 oder "Never Can Say Goodbye" 1987. Die Neuinterpretation des Songs "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us" langte nicht an den großen Erfolg der 74er-Version heran, am Besten lief sie noch in Großbritannien, wo sie zumindest Platz 40 der Charts erreichte. Es gibt auch 2 schöne Coverversionen des Songs, Siouxsie & The Banshees nahmen ihn 1987 für ihr Album "Through The Looking Glass" auf und British Whale alias Justin Hawkins veröffentlichte 2005 die tolle Single "This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us / America". Justin Hawkins ist der Sänger der Band The Darkness, die ich auch sehr gerne mag. Die Sparks haben bisher in ihrer langen Karriere 25 Studioalben veröffentlicht, die erfolgreichsten davon waren "Kimono My House" 1974, "Propaganda" 1974, "Indiscreet" 1975, "Hippopotamus" 2017, "A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip" 2020 und "The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte" 2023. Meine erste Single von den Sparks war "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth / Alabamy Right" 1974, seither bin ich ein großer Fan der Sparks. Leider ist mir diese Single im Laufe der Jahre verloren gegangen, jetzt befinden sich von den Sparks die Singles "When I'm With You / When I'm With You (Instrumental)" 1980 und "Young Girls / Just Because You Love Me" 1980 in meiner Sammlung. Die Alben habe ich außer "The Seduction Of Ingmar Bergman" 2009 alle, aber diese kleine Lücke werde ich demnächst füllen.
